Position Title: Senior Windows Engineer

Reports to: Program Manager

Position Overview:

Provide daily administrative and engineering support in the analyzing, designing, implementing and administering of the Smithsonian’s network server environment to include but not limited to applications such as Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Windows Server 2003/2008, Net Backup Software, and Microsoft Cluster Services and Failover clustering management. 

1.      Conduct complex troubleshooting and repair tasks on Active Directory, Windows Server 2003/2008, Cluster Services, and other operational systems as needed.

2.      Provide monthly status reports for government management.

3.      Provide ad-hoc status to schedules and timelines as required.

4.      Plan, organize, coordinate, and execute technical projects, often requiring expert analysis and direction to teams of other specialists.  Such projects will include after-hours hardware maintenance and upgrades as required.

5.      Serve as second & third tier support for Helpdesk and NOC operations with respect to server systems, user authentication, user account creation and maintenance, drive mappings, printing services, and all other directory and network troubleshooting. 

6.      Evaluate emerging technologies in order to contribute to long-range planning for system evolution.  This includes the ability to conduct market research and provide reports showing best in business/industry leading directions.

7.      Provide management with evening server status checks, as well as Active Directory, backup system, and Exchange integrity/health checks. 

8.      Ability to handle multiple tasks with little guidance and successfully completing the tasks at hand.

9.      Ability to manage team of administrators to achieve service level agreements of the customer.

10.  Generate and maintain network management diagrams and documents detailing Active Directory structure, Exchange structure, backup system configuration, server information and location.  Knowledge of Visio a “plus”

11.  Use Nagios, Microsoft Systems Center Operations Manager, NET Pro, Active Roles, Quest based products and other utilities to monitor servers, Active Directory, Exchange, and other systems.

12.  Creation and maintenance of documentation detailing locations and configurations for all Windows based servers.

Qualifications:

Required: Bachelor’s Degree (Computer/Network Technology related), Microsoft Engineer with extensive SAN management, Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Cluster Services, Citrix XEN 6 platforms, Enterprise Exchange 2007, Active Directory and VMWare experience.

Valued Skills:     Experience with Microsoft Active Directory, NetBackup, RightFax, EMC Clarion SAN Storage hardware, Citrix XenApp 6, Heat, Quest products.

Must have expert knowledge of and skill in administering Microsoft Server 2003/ 2008  Operating System to serve as technical authority in advising management and system administrators agency-wide for purposes of long-range planning, development of standards and guidance, and evaluation of overall operational systems.

  1. Expert knowledge of Microsoft Clustered Services and Failover clustering management.
  2. Expert knowledge of XENAPP 6 infrastructure.

Job Summary:

Research and recommend GIS software interfaces for the Air Force Installation Geospatial Information and Services (IGI&S) visualization system and examine and evaluate alternative means of satisfying user requirements.

  • Support layer level access control configurations for web map services.
  • Implement numbered air force (NAF) and expeditionary web services on the Global Combat Support System (GCSS-AF) Portal.
  • Implement pre-rendered, cached base mapping data for web map services.
  • Implement new map service viewing framework that consolidates many viewers into a single platform.
  • Provide technical assistance of continental United States (CONUS)/Wing map services in conjunction with direction from the Wing.
  • Update public key infrastructure (PKI) accreditation for all web servers.
  • Maintain and update as necessary the reduced sign on (RSO) junctions for connection into the GCSS-AF.
  • Troubleshoot GCSS-AF portal issues that affect the IGI&S map services.

  • Provide technical expertise to mitigate GCSS-AF portal issues that affect the IGI&S map services.
  • Assist with architecture implementation. 

Specific skills and knowledge essential for this position:

  • BS or BA Degree in Computer Science, Geography or related field and/or demonstrated equivalent experience.
  • At least two years hands-on experience managing ArcIMS 4.x or 9.x to include: 1) installing and un-installing ArcIMS and all supporting software; 2) management of ArcIMS web services; 3) performance tuning and 4) technical troubleshooting.  The contractor shall remain proficient with the current standards and products utilized by the Air Force.
  • Experience in GIS integration using ESRI software to include ArcGIS 9.x and higher Desktop Software.  Such experience can be shown via qualification summary or training certificate from a certified training program.

The Pricing Analyst, Principal has responsibility for the submittal of moderate to high complexity proposals generated by the Federal Government. Position Title: Firewall Technician

Reports to: Lead Firewall Engineer

Position Overview:

The Firewall technician is responsible for the operations and maintenance of all firewall devices

for the 561 st Network Operations Squadron customer base. Key services maintained either

locally or remotely are: Sidewinder G2 Firewalls, Cisco Virtual Private Network devices and

BlueCoat Proxy servers.

 

Main Duties:

 

• Responsible for assisting with the establishment and development of a secure

infrastructure, based on client needs, U.S Government guidance and industry best

practices. Will operate and maintain, assist with the design modification and

documentation security configurations for applications, network devices that include:

Firewalls, Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) and

other equipment and software.

• Provide guidance that supports technical information system design(s), improvements,

planning and implementation. Assess current and planned information systems,

identifying security architecture or design issues, and develop solutions to meet customer

requirements and standards compliance.

• Participates in infrastructure support projects to develop, plan, and implement

specifications or standards for network and distributed system security technologies in

support of key information systems. Able to support the evaluation and acquisition of

information security tools (as requested). Participate in special projects (as required).

 

Working hours: 40 hour work week and shift flexibility is mandatory.

 

Requirements:

• Must have hands on experience working with Sidewinder and Cisco firewalls, various

IDS/IPS products, and VPNs.

• Need a solid understanding of current security practices in service provider environment.

• Strong understanding of current industry trends in network and security infrastructure.

• Must be comfortable with shell scripting.

• Candidates must possess an active DoD secret security clearance.

• Candidates must successfully pass a Drug Test.

• B.S. in Computer Science or related field, or High School graduate with 7 years of

experience supporting enterprise networks.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist in the promotion of the Air Force’s Installation Geospatial Information & Services (IGI&S) program and educate organizations as to the value, structure and status of the installation IGI&S program.

Specific skills and knowledge essential for this position:

6. Maintenance of the Network Management Diagrams to include all CISCO Infrastructure components and associated network devices. Diagrams are maintained in a Microsoft Visio format.

7. Creation of Network Infrastructure log books to house problem management documentation, change management documentation, and status check lists.

8. Creation and maintenance of Master Infrastructure Components List for Smithsonian Institution detailing individual locations and configurations for all network infrastructure components.

Must have current CCNP or better.

MINIMUM of 5+ years of experience in an Enterprise Cisco LAN and WAN environment (supporting minim 2,000 users).

1. Must have expert knowledge of and skill in administering current CISCO Infrastructure components and associated network devices to serve as a technical authority in advising management and system administrators agency-wide for purposes of long-range planning, development of standards and guidance, and evaluation of overall operational system.

2. CISCO Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or better certification is required with at least 3 years of related network infrastructure experience. This includes the ability to be able to create access lists on routers for the purposes of bandwidth utilization and security management, perform switch and router IOS (and/or Cat OS) and hardware upgrades, deploy new routers and switches, install memory and flash updates as needed to accomplish IOS (and/or Cat OS) upgrades, and monitor and maintain the network utilizing SW/HW tools.

3. Must have skills as a network engineer in support of CISCO systems, including the administration of Gig and ATM equipment and the use of EIGRP and BGP routing protocols. Systems administration includes configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and resolution of any problems that arise.

4. Solid understanding of and skill in applying TCP/IP and associated networking protocols. This should include the knowledge of how various TCP/IP ports (e.g. SNMP, SMTP, POP, IMAP, HTTP, HTTPS, etc) can affect security within an organization to the extent that expert advice can be given to SI management and system administrators to improve support and security of SI devices, systems, and associated components.

5. A firm grasp on how an infrastructure should be configured to maximize security throughout various infrastructure components to include firewall configurations (e.g. PIX, CheckPoint), VPN configurations, and edge router configurations. Methodologies for how to properly create zones for external servers and clients, DMZ servers and clients, and internal servers and clients should be well known.

6. Must be able to perform modifications to network management software (e.g. HP Openview, What’s Up Gold, CACTI, Cisco Works, etc.) as directed by the COTR and/or OCIO Management.

7. Ability to plan, organize, coordinate and execute technical projects, often requiring leading teams of other specialists.

8. Ability to evaluate emerging technologies in order to contribute to long-range planning and technical review models for system evolution. Includes ability to conduct detailed market research and provide reports to OCIO and SI management.

9. Ability to work in an environment with shifting priorities and assignments.

10. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing to a variety of audiences.

11. Background in service delivery, (i.e., communicating effectively in consultation, managing expectations, keeping customers informed regarding system changes and specific problem investigations). Position Overview:

· Experienced providing day-to-day operational support of the servers.

· Experienced providing server trouble-shooting and problem resolution.

PRIMARY FUNCTION

ü      Directs the preparation, transmission, and monitoring of correspondence relating to contractual obligations; assures maintenance of adequate files, which accurately reflect the status and history of contract performance.

ü      Enforces approved Contract Administration policies and practices, as well as related Government regulations throughout Qivliq.

ü      Responsible for the supervision and administration of the Subsidiaries full compliance with regulations.

ü      Manages a team of Contracts professionals (1-5 persons).  Provides leadership and training to subordinates.

 

Required Skills

ü      Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business Administration.

ü      5 – 10 + years Government Contracting experience (Title shall be determined based upon years of experience).

ü      FAR, IT/Telecom industry background preferred.

ü      Comprehensive knowledge of Government regulations and directives and their relationship to contractual obligations.

ü      Extensive GSA Schedule/GWAC/MAC experience required. 

ü      Must possess the ability to interact with senior management; excellent presentation and communication skills; demonstrated leadership skills, as well as knowledge and expertise in contract negotiations.

After scrubbing the data you will communicate data anomalies and performance contrary to goal objectives with senior staff and management. The Metrics Analyst is also responsible for working with senior staff members to determine the appropriate measures and associated metrics to support the Business Process Reengineering efforts. Strong auditing and analysis skills will be needed in order to identify and track trends in metrics and be able to work with business process reengineering (BPR) to identify process improvements.  

This person will be involved in metrics needs assessments, along with the planning, collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of both quality and productivity metrics.  Designs and presents to senior staff metrics plans, estimate reports, and metrics reports design. This person will be responsible for working with other staff members to analyze the accuracy of performance statistics and data. 

Exceptional communication skills and a strong determination to overcome obstacles are required. Exposure to relational database structures and SQL are a plus.

Business Process Engineer

 Candidates MUST have a Telecommunications/Cable work history. We are looking to employ an employee or a contractor of someone who has a solid Business Process Engineering (BPR) work history who also possesses a strong work flow background. For the first six months of this project you will be standing up Data and doing Data cleansing and 20% of your time will be analysis of the data. After that 80% of your time will be spent doing analysis and 20% standup.

 This person will should have a strong process improvement background and business analysis skills as well. It would be helpful if this person has an order management background as you will be coordinating with 14 Million subscriber’s data. We are looking for data modeling experience, strong compliance and business process knowledge as well. Candidates will support their informatics in multiple regions. The BPR Engineer is also responsible for working with senior staff members to determine the appropriate measures and associated metrics to support the Business Process Reengineering efforts. Strong auditing and analysis skills will be needed in order to identify “as is” and “to be” modeling and be able to work with business process reengineering team members to identify process improvements. 

 Exceptional communication skills and a strong determination to overcome obstacles are required. Exposure to relational database structures and SQL are a plus. 

 Requirements:

 Business process engineering- Domain: Telecom or Cable

Process workflow and systems process design

Process methodology experience

Data Modeling experience

 Education:  Requires a Bachelors degree.

The primary objective of the Technical Recruiter is to identify, screen, qualify and hire the cream of the crop in the technical field. The Technical Recruiter is an integral member of the Branch Management Team who reports to the Director of Recruiting with dotted line responsibility to the CEO. The Technical Recruiter will be tasked with the flawless execution of the SES hiring process from start to finish and assuring quality in every step along the way. Technical Recruiters will be responsible for verifying employment, checking references, negotiating all offers/counter-offers, and completing all the new hire paperwork associated with the offer. On occasion you will attend job fairs, Branch Meetings, Social Functions, and User Groups.

The successful candidate will have experience recruiting in the full Software Development Lifecycle, they MUST be comfortable on the phone and have a great sense of urgency. Must be able to understand and speak intelligently about recruiting candidates with the following skill sets: Java/J2EE Developers, C .NET Developers, Database Architects/Administrators/Analysts, Business/Systems Analysts, Project Managers, Testers (Manual and Auto), Business Intelligence, and ERP/CRM.

The Technical Recruiter is responsible for all steps associated with the identification, placement and management of employees. The ability to develop strong communication channels with internal and external managers is crucial to business success.
